Finalist, Whitewall Art Prize 2023

Leni Kae’s spiritual and figurative painting “When We We One” is a finalist in the Whitewall Art Prize 2023, themed ‘Into the Light’.

“When We Were One” is a contemporary painting on canvas (approximately 117 x 116cm), created by Sydney intuitive artist Leni Kae. It is a visual voyage into our connected existence. Imagery of a masculine and feminine body float within a womb of thoughts and dreams – an expression of being birthed together. There is a portraiture reference to the Divine Feminine spirit of Aphrodite and a Divine Masculine energy of Adonis; a story connected deeply to the artist’s own Greek heritage. Through this artwork, the artist touches on concepts of Spiritual Unity, Divine Love, soul mates and connectedness.

Often as humans we are instilled with a belief that our existence and experiences are individual and isolated, which can translate to emotional or spiritual disconnection. Here, I wanted to shine a light on the commonalities of our experiences from the moment we are born; connected in our experience of growth, thought, emotion, dream, energy. They are shared and rippled all around us. Acknowledging this connectedness is not just important for our own health and personal development, but vital for the health and spiritual growth of the collective.”
