Leni Kae - Sydney Artist, Illustrator, Writer
Leni Kae is an Australian contemporary artist and illustrator based in Sydney’s Inner West. Her work explores the emotional and spiritual connections between nature, energy, and the human spirit. Through luminous layers of watercolour, delicate linework, and her signature splashes and drips, she captures both the flow of emotion and the stillness that exists beneath it.
An intuitive artist, Leni paints as both meditation and story — each brushstroke infused with symbolic meaning and the rhythms of the natural world. Her series, including Animal Spirit and Journeys Through Consciousness, express recurring themes of unity, transformation, and healing. She seeks to remind us that art is not only an act of creation, but a return to connection — within ourselves, with others, with nature, and with the greater universe.
“Art inspires us to visit the concept of unity, and to see ourselves as part of a bigger universe.” — Leni Kae
Leni’s fine art has been exhibited and collected both in Australia and internationally, with shows across New York, London, Varese, Bologna, Barcelona, and Florence, as well as locally across Australia. Her work has been recognised in national art prizes including the Heysen Prize for Landscape, Lake Art Prize, the Mandorla Art Award, the Du Rietz Art Awards, Art Lovers Australia Prize, and the Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award. She has also completed cultural commissions such as work for the Sydney Jewish Museum.
Leni continues to explore how colour, pattern, and symbolism can awaken the spirit and celebrate our shared sense of unity.

Artistic Influences
The self-taught artist began painting in oils at the age of nine, later extending her practice to acrylics, watercolours, and illustration. Over the years, her style has evolved in rhythm with her own spiritual and creative journey — each series carrying a distinct energy and symbolic voice.
“Art is an expression of the soul’s journey; and as I evolve, so too does my art. I love the adventure that art brings. Art has the power to reframe our vision of the world. What greater adventure is there?” — Leni Kae
Early influences included the greats such as Matisse, Dali, and Duchamp, whose bold use of colour, symbolism, and emotional movement left a lasting imprint on her visual language. These foundations continue to inform her intuitive approach, now fused with a deeper connection to nature, energy, and spirit.
Leni’s more recent inspirations come from the natural world and the unseen — the light that moves through landscapes, the rhythm of wings, the patterns of growth and renewal. Her creative process is largely intuitive, guided by a felt sense of harmony, colour vibration, and emotional resonance. She views painting as a form of meditation — a way of listening to what nature and the soul wish to express.
At the heart of her work lies the belief that art, nature, and spirit are interconnected paths to understanding the self and the world — that through colour and line, we glimpse unity, healing, and the sacred pulse of life.
Education Influences
Leni’s creative and spiritual practice is supported by a diverse foundation of study that bridges the artistic, intuitive, and analytical. She holds certifications in Meditation Teaching, Colour Therapy, and Educational Psychology, along with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, where she also studied Higher Mathematics. She later completed postgraduate qualifications in Arts & Cultural Management at Deakin University where she achieved the Deans Award, and Marketing at CSU.
This balance between intuition and intellect deeply informs her approach to art — combining an understanding of colour, emotion, and consciousness with an appreciation for structure, rhythm, and universal pattern. For Leni, education and creativity are intertwined: each field of study has enriched her awareness of connection — between logic and spirit, order and flow — and how art can bridge them to awaken and heal.
